What: First Annual Off-the-Grid Concert and EcoFest
Where: Bartlett Arboretum, Belle Plaine, KS
When: Sunday, October 19, Gates open at noon
Featuring Austin singer-songwriter Eliza Gilkyson (performing at 4pm)
The concert sound system will be powered by concert goers pedaling bicycle generators. We are planning to have a fleet of 3 generators - constructed with the help of MakeICT.
Admission $10 (free if you ride a bicycle to the Arboretum – bike valet provided by Bike Walk Wichita)
Environmentally relevant speakers at 12:30, 1:30, 2:30, 3:30, and 4:30
The Speakers are: Brad Guhr – speaking about landscaping with native plants, Molly Traffas – presenting eco poetry, Britt Hopper – discussing pollinators in a GMO world, Patrick Attwater speaking on solar energy, and Lynate Pettengill presenting on our climate reality)
Local musicians starting at 12:30 (Common Folk, Brutal Bear, World on a String, Robin Macy & friends, Pop & the Boys, Irish Ceilidh)
Kinetic Art by Mike and Meghan Miller (see their art at Shift Space Gallery)
Food vendors (Lyon’s Den BBQ, Luciano’s, College Hill Coffee)
There will be a kids tent with activities: pumpkin painting, scavenger hunt, and bicycle-powered LED lights.
