Success! I met with the MakeICT folks this afternoon. As you can see in the video below, we were able to generate enough voltage to charge a 12-volt battery. We kept the previous system that I had set up - inlcluding the 3-wire alternator. We experimented with 40-watt desk lamps as a load. You can hear the cyclist comment on being able to feel resistance to pedaling when the lamp is turned on. Since the sound check and the discovery that yodeling causes the amp to draw 170 watts, we may have to ban yodeling at O-t-G so that no cyclist has to bear the load of 170 watts! However, the new plan is to build two more bicycle generators so that three pedalers can work together to keep the sound system powered up. We are hoping to use a small 8 amp-hour battery instead of the 100-amp-hour beast.
